in Houston, Texas. The assessment included a review of site conditions, historical data, soil sampling,
laboratory analysis, and evaluation of relevant scientific literature.

substantiated by environmental or scientific evidence. The assessment provided clarity and

Astra-I2M was engaged to provide an expert environmental risk assessment for the Standard Heights
Subdivision, addressing concerns about historical contamination. Leveraging advanced Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbon (TPH) mixture analysis and high-resolution site characterization, Astra-I2M identified
extensive soil and air contamination, including carcinogenic compounds including petroleum hydrocarbons.
Our rigorous methodology revealed that previous assessments underestimated health risks by
focusing on shallow soil samples and using less comprehensive testing methods. Their modeling
demonstrated that volatile contaminants, such as benzene, continue to pose indoor air quality risks,
while produce grown in the area, like pecans, showed significant contamination through phyto-extraction.
Based on these findings, Astra-I2M recommended a thorough remediation plan, including soil
removal to regulatory depths, to ensure the safety of residents. The case underscores Astra-I2M's
